================================================================
 SORYNO VERB  v1.0.0
 Reverb (Windows / VST3)
================================================================

Thank you for choosing SORYNO VERB.

This plug-in is free. It is not a demo. There is no time limit, no feature
timeout and no nag screen. There is no paid version of it either - this is
the whole product.

It is a reverb. What makes it different: it paints amber, on a time line,
the places where the reverb of one note is still ringing under the next
note - the moments where the reverb turns the mix muddy. It answers
"is this reverb too long?" with something you can see.

* At MIX 0 % the audio that comes out is bit-for-bit identical to the audio
  that goes in. Latency is zero (0 samples).

■ System requirements
----------------------------------------------------------------

  OS             Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit)
  Format         VST3
  Sample rates   44.1 / 48 / 96 / 192 kHz
  Channels       Mono / Stereo
  Extra software None
  Latency        0

  * The Visual C++ redistributable is NOT required.
  * There is no macOS version and no AAX (Pro Tools) version.

■ Installing
----------------------------------------------------------------

  Double-click Install.bat. Administrator rights are not needed.

  It installs to:
    %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Common\VST3

  Rescan your plug-ins in your DAW afterwards. Hosts that show categories
  list it under "Reverb".

  * About the Windows warning
    Windows may show "Windows protected your PC". This is because the
    installer is not signed with a (paid) developer certificate. Choose
    "More info" -> "Run anyway".

  To uninstall:
    powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File install.ps1 -Uninstall

  * Where to put it
    - Directly on a vocal or instrument track, and set the amount with MIX
    - On a send (aux) track: start from the preset "Send 100% Wet"

■ Reading the display
----------------------------------------------------------------

  Use VIEW at the top to switch between three views.

  OVERLAP (the default view) - where the reverb runs into the next note
    The last 8 seconds scroll from right to left.
      white line   the incoming audio
      blue area the reverb (as you hear it)
      amber the reverb of the previous note still sitting under the
                   next note - where it makes the mix muddy
      triangle the start of a new note that has amber under it
    The big number on the right is the share of playing time (last 8 s)
    in which the reverb runs into the next note.
    * Shorten DECAY or raise DUCK and the amber shrinks right away.

  SHAPE - the shape of the reverb
    The actual response of the current settings to one short click.
    Left: a close-up of the start (the PRE-DELAY gap, early reflections as
    white lines). Right: the whole reverb and the DECAY line (time to fall
    by 60 dB).

  TONE - the tone of the reverb and how long each range rings
    Top: the frequency balance of the reverb alone. Bottom: how long each
    frequency range rings. If the lows ring as long as the mids, they turn
    amber (a sign of mud) - raise LOW DAMP to make the lows die away
    sooner. (LOW CUT lowers how much low end goes in, not how long it rings.)

  * The amber shows best on vocals, drums and single instruments (sounds
    with clear note starts). On a full mix something is always playing and
    note starts cannot be found, so there is very little amber. That is
    expected, not a fault.

■ Controls
----------------------------------------------------------------

  SPACE
    TYPE Room / Hall / Plate
    SIZE size of the space (0-100 %)
    DECAY time for the reverb to fall by 60 dB (0.2-20 s, at 1 kHz)
    PRE-DELAY gap before the reverb starts (0-250 ms)

  COLOR
    LOW CUT removes lows going into the reverb (20-1000 Hz); the dry
                sound is not affected
    LOW DAMP makes the lows (below 250 Hz) die away sooner than the mids
                (0-100 %)
    HIGH DAMP makes the highs (above 5 kHz) die away sooner than the mids
                (0-100 %); higher is darker

  MIX
    DUCK lowers the reverb while the dry sound is playing (up to
                24 dB), so it stays out of the way of a vocal and blooms in
                the gaps
    MIX balance of dry and reverb (0-100 %)

■ Presets (12)
----------------------------------------------------------------

    Init Hall, DECAY 1.8 s (the starting point)
    Vocal Plate plate for vocals (DUCK 30 %)
    Vocal Hall Ducked hall for vocals, ducked while singing (DUCK 60 %)
    Ballad Hall a wide hall for ballads
    Small Room           a small room
    Drum Room a room for drums
    Snare Plate a plate for snare
    Guitar Room a room for guitar
    Piano Hall a hall for piano
    Big Hall a big hall (DECAY 4 s)
    Dark Ambience a dark, long tail (DECAY 7 s)
    Send 100% Wet for a send (aux) track: reverb only (MIX 100 %)

■ A / B and "A>B"
----------------------------------------------------------------

  Keep two settings side by side and switch between them.

    A / B swaps the two settings (the audio keeps playing)
    A>B * copies the current settings onto the other slot.
                On B the button reads "B>A" and copies the other way.
                ** Whatever was in the other slot is overwritten.
                  Pressed it by mistake? UNDO puts it back.

■ With SORYNO ECHO
----------------------------------------------------------------

  SORYNO ECHO (a delay), released on the same day, shows "echoes that land
  on the next note" in amber in the same way. VERB is for reverb; ECHO is
  for distinct repeats.

■ The rest of SORYNO
----------------------------------------------------------------

    SORYNO ECHO     delay
    SORYNO EQ       equaliser
    SORYNO COMP     compressor
    SORYNO LIMIT    limiter
    SORYNO DEESS    de-esser
    SORYNO TAPE     tape saturator
    SORYNO CLIP     clipper
    SORYNO METER    loudness meter

  All of them have a free version. https://pinzu.tech/pinzuaudio/

■ Update notices
----------------------------------------------------------------

  SORYNO VERB is free. When a new version is released you can download it
  from the same BOOTH page.

  The plug-in checks for a newer version when its window opens. It shows a
  notice if there is one; it never installs anything by itself.

  * Turning the check off
    Right-click anywhere on the plug-in window and untick
    "Check for updates".

  * What is sent
    Nothing. The plug-in reads one small text file on GitHub. No information
    about you, your computer, your song or your usage is transmitted. If
    there is no connection it quietly does nothing.

■ Checking the version
----------------------------------------------------------------

  The version is shown next to the product name, top left:

    V1.0.0

  To verify the file itself:

  SHA256 (VST3\SORYNO VERB.vst3\Contents\x86_64-win\SORYNO VERB.vst3)
    4867936ABE2C715B6B69B4C4E4B1DD07E1A4B3280A455271C3306AAAFEB3BAEB

  In PowerShell:
    Get-FileHash "VST3\SORYNO VERB.vst3\Contents\x86_64-win\SORYNO VERB.vst3"

■ Troubleshooting
----------------------------------------------------------------

  It does not appear in my DAW
    -> Rescan your plug-ins.

  There is never any amber
    -> Is it on a full mix? The amber appears on material with clear note
       starts - vocals, drums, single instruments. There is none at MIX 0 %.

  "Play audio" stays in the middle of the graph
    -> No audio has arrived yet. It starts drawing as soon as audio plays.

  The reverb sounds muddy
    -> Open TONE and see whether the low bars are amber. Raising LOW DAMP
       makes the low end of the reverb die away sooner; raising LOW CUT
       puts less low end into the reverb.
